I came into recovery at the Veterans Hospital in Tucson on my birthday in 1987 and went through Gestalt therapy. Soon after I began attending Alcoholics Anonymous. At the beginning of the narrative I had been sober for twenty years. Getting sober has been a ride beyond my expectations.
